What It’s Actually Like to Work With Me as Your Business Mentor

If you’ve been reading along over the past few weeks, you might have found yourself starting to think that mentoring could be something worth exploring.

But even then, there’s usually still a bit of a question mark around what it actually looks like in reality.

Because it’s one thing understanding what mentoring is, and another thing entirely knowing what it feels like to be on the other side of it.

It’s Not as Formal as You Might Think

One of the first things people often say after their first session is that it wasn’t what they expected. Not in a bad way, just in the sense that it didn’t feel as formal or structured as they’d built it up to be in their head.

There’s no script, no rigid agenda, and definitely no pressure to have everything figured out before we even start. Most of the time, people come into that first conversation with a mix of thoughts, ideas, and a few things they’ve been putting off, and that’s exactly where we begin.

We Start With Where You Are

Every conversation starts with what’s actually going on for you right now.

Not what you think you should be doing, and not what anyone else is telling you to focus on, but what’s genuinely taking up space in your head.

Sometimes that’s something really practical, like needing to get a bit more structure into your week or figuring out your next steps in the business. Other times, it’s more about how things are feeling behind the scenes, whether that’s overwhelm, second guessing, or just feeling a bit stuck with it all.

There’s space for both, because they’re usually more connected than people realise.

It’s a Conversation, Not a Lecture

This isn’t about me sitting there telling you what to do. It’s a conversation.

One where you get to talk things through properly, without feeling rushed or like you need to filter what you’re saying.

I’ll ask questions, challenge things when it feels right to do so, and help you look at situations from a slightly different angle. Sometimes that’s all it takes for something to click into place in a way it hadn’t before.

Other times, we’ll take what’s been talked about and start to shape it into something a bit more structured, so you leave with a clearer idea of what you’re actually focusing on next.

You Leave With Something You Can Actually Use

One of the biggest differences people notice is that they don’t just leave with more to think about. They leave with something they can actually do.

That might be a clearer direction, a few focused next steps, or even just a different way of approaching something that’s been feeling heavier than it needs to.

It’s never about overwhelming you with a long list of things to do. It’s about making sure what you are doing feels manageable and aligned with where you want your business to go.

It Doesn’t Stop at the Session

A lot of the value comes from what happens after the conversation.

The small shifts in how you approach things. The decisions you make with a bit more confidence behind them. The things you finally follow through on because they feel clearer and less overwhelming.

That’s where momentum starts to build, and that’s where people really begin to notice the difference.

It’s Support, But It’s Also Accountability

Having someone in your corner makes a difference, especially when you’re used to doing everything on your own. It’s not about being told off or feeling pressured, but there is a level of accountability that comes naturally when you know you’re going to check back in. It gives you that extra nudge to follow through on the things you’ve said you want to do.

And just as importantly, there’s space to talk about what didn’t go to plan as well.

Because that’s just as valuable as the wins.

It’s Me, As I Am

What you see online is very much what you get.

There’s no switch that gets flipped when a session starts, and no version of me that suddenly becomes more “professional” in a way that feels forced. It’s the same honest, open conversations, just in a more focused space where everything is about you and your business.

That’s what makes it feel comfortable, and that’s what allows people to show up as themselves too.

If You’re Wondering Whether It’s Right for You

If you’ve been thinking about mentoring but still aren’t quite sure what it would feel like, hopefully this has given you a bit more of a picture.

It doesn’t have to be a big leap or a perfectly timed decision. Sometimes it just starts with a conversation to see if it feels like the right fit.

If you’d like to explore that, you can find out more about working with me here: Work With Me.

And if you’re not quite there yet, you’re always welcome to come along to one of my networking events and experience that first layer of support in a more relaxed setting.
